Boris Martin Hajek

Boris Martin Hajek, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12th, 2017 in his home in Mar Vista, California, where he resided for 50 years.

Boris, the son of the late Vjekoslav (Vena) Maly Hajek and Maria Arl Hajek, was born August 7, 1927 in the village of Oroslavje in Croatia, Yugoslavia. He was raised Catholic.

Boris emigrated from Croatia, Yugoslavia through Italy and on to Canada in 1951 at the age of 24. He married Lonnja in May 1956 and had two daughters. They immigrated to the U.S. in October 1961, moving down to Venice, CA and he divorced in 1976.

Boris married Anna Krikorian Dibene on May 15, 1982 in Los Angeles, California.

When Boris first emigrated from Croatia, Yugoslavia he worked in a gold mine and as a taxi driver. When he moved down to the U.S., Boris obtained licensing to become a heavy equipment operator, which became his lifelong occupation.

Boris loved to cook, attended the gym three times a week and enjoyed working on cars. He spoke two languages fluently, Croatian and English. Boris loved music, especially Al Martino, Franky Lane, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Elvis. Boris was a magnet for friendships and found them around every corner. The people who knew Boris and walked in his circle of life, would say that he was the kindest person alive, opening his heart and home to so many. Most of all, Boris loved the Lord and his family!

Boris was preceded in death by both parents, an infant sister, his brother Zlatko and his wife, Anna.

Boris is survived by his daughter Malvi Orient and significant other, Walter Burke and daughter and son-in-law Lonny and Bob New, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Anna's children, son and daughter-in-law Greg and Pam Dibene, daughter and son-in-law Debbie and David Jackson, daughter Lisa Vig and son Jon Dibene, and her five grandchildren.

His wonderful life will be forever cherished in the lives of his daughters and their family.
