Bonnie Lee Hensler

Bonnie Lee Hensler, 96, passed with peace and grace on September 23 with her family at her side. Bonnie was predeceased by her husband Robert, after 68 years of marriage. She is survived by her eight children Robert, Jr. of Tucson, John (Diane) of Phoenix, Virginia of Prescott, Joel of Redlands, William of Puerto Penasco, Daniel (Gail) of Mission Viejo, Mary of Redlands, Steven (Andrea) of Redlands, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bonnie was born in Odon, Indiana, attended the Central Academy of Commercial Art in Cincinnati, Chicago Art Institute and Purdue University, where she met her future husband. After marrying Robert, they moved to California where their children were born and raised. She was both elegant and disciplined in every aspect of her life, yet she could also laugh at herself, which taught her family the importance of this, in a life well lived. She made deep and enduring friendships which she cherished.

Besides being a loving wife and mother, Bonnie was an accomplished artist in various mediums. Over the years, she won many awards for her art. She enjoyed boating with the family even though she could not swim, golfing, writing, reading, volunteering, traveling and cooking.

A service will be held at Forest Lawn in Glendale on Saturday, October 8 at 10 am. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice or to the American Diabetes Association.

She leaves us rich in memories.
