Thousand Oaks

Billy Harold Cross, 80, of Thousand Oaks, California, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 29, 2026. Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on July 24 at 3 p.m.

Born in Bokchito, Oklahoma on January 20, 1946, to Juanita Katherine Hatridge and Lester Elzie Cross, Bill graduated from Burns Flat High School as a 4 sport letterman. He went on to graduate from Oklahoma Military Academy, and earned his BA in Economics from Knox College, in Gailsburg, Illinois, where he was a leader of the ROTC. He joined the Army in 1968, serving 4 years as a Captain and fighting bravely for his country in Vietnam. After retiring, he devoted 40 years of his life to the movie industry, working tirelessly as a writer, actor, and producer. When he wasn’t filming, he was an avid golfer and lived for his weekly poker games with his poker buddies. Bill’s love for baseball and the Dodgers was unrivaled, and his knowledge of the game unmatched. He had a profound love for his animals—his cats, dogs, and horses—and prided himself on caring for them into his old age. He was the ultimate family man and adored his wife, children, and grandchildren above all else.

Bill was known for his warmth, humor, and loyalty. Honest to a fault, he was the ultimate protector, with unwavering integrity. His sense of humor left a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to have known him, and his laughter could bring a smile to truly anyone.

Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Elzie Cross, Ronnie Cross, and Jerry Cross. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Cross; his two daughters, Kimberley Romo and Alexandra Cross; his 3 grandchildren, Abel, Nora, and Lincoln; and his siblings: Bobby Cross, Larry Cross, Cathy Storch, Cindy Fornash.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal shelter of your choosing.

Friends and family are invited to Forest Lawn Memorial Park on July 24, at 3 p.m. for funeral services.
