Our gracious love mother was born on a beautiful summer day August 17,1930 in Vinita, Oklahama. Known only for its hard-working people, she got right in. Her father Emerson Eliot Way and mother Jamie Ellen Ulrich Way, Raised their four children William, Harry, Chauncey and Betty, during hard times and lean war years right there in Vinita. All her brother served in the Armed Forces, while her family prayed for them an survived rations. She wanted to be a nurse. But to young and didn't graduate from Vinita high school until 1948. Three years after the war ended. God blessed her family when her brothers all returned from the war unscathed.
Mom met the first love of her life Eugene owen, while working at the horse auction. She had first child Nickie Jean in Dec. 1950. Unfortunately mom decided it was best that we left Oklahoma without Eugene. We moved to Southgate, Ca. to live with her mother Mamie, who had recently married for the second time to Willard Thomson. A very loving stepfather. It was there that she meant the true love of her life, Edmond Ray Duncan. Who she spent the next 50 years of her life. Sharing all the happiness and sorrow of life can bring. They married in June 1954 and blessed with twins a boy Randy Ray and girl Sandy Kay on February 1955. After 7 years after they were able to purchase their and only home using the G.I. Bill with 1dollar down payment since Dad hard served in the Korean war. They joyfully moved into their beautiful new house in December of 1962 in Cypress, Ca. we're they lived for the rest of their lives. Nickie married Robert Black in 1976, blessed mom with her first grandchild Zaire Lee Black in 1977. She layered married again and have mom her second grandchild Mario Xvier Barton in 1984. Nickie is married to Anthony Hawkins. Mom very fond of him, as he helped with her care as will as her other son-laws.
Mom became gravely ill last October, in the hospital several month in care home in Orange, Ca She sercomed to complications that took her life just 1 day short of her 89th birthday.
She would not want you to mourn her, but think of the great time you shared with her. As all of you know she loved to cook and share a good meal and times. She would want you to do as the custom of Ireland. Which I to party and celebrate.
She has completed her struggle here in Earth an currently in the care of our ever loving savior.
God bless each and everyone of you today and always.
