Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Betty Bloomfield, passed way December 21st, 2013. She was lovingly known as Nana to her grandchildren, David Mertz and Kelly McGann Holmes. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kelly; her son, Charles Bloomfield; her nephews, Michael Bloomfield, and Bradford Hoffman; and her husband, Daniel Bloomfield. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Bloomfield Pemberton; her grandson, David Mertz; and two great grandsons, William and Owen Holmes. She was known as Aunt Betty by her nieces, Penny Lippman and Jill Mincer Singer and her nephews, Phil Weintraub Jr. and Allen Bloomfield. She is also survived by her cousin, Harry Brenner and his daughter, Lynn Brenner. She was Great Aunt Betty to Jamie Gutfreund, Nikki Conway, Kevyn Weintraub, Jack Lippman, Nicole Bloomfield and Amanda Bloomfield. Betty was born in Chicago, Ill. and was married for 50 years to the love of her life, Danny Bloomfield, president of Bloomfield Industries of Chicago. She adored her brothers-in-law, Harold Bloomfield and Jack Hoffman, both deceased; her brother-in-law, Phil Weintraub, deceased, a former major league ballplayer for the New York Giants. Her two sisters, Horty Hoffman and Jeanne Weintraub also predeceased her as did her sister-in-law, Dorothy Bloomfield. Betty was a talented artist and sculptor who enjoyed golf and socializing. She was a homemaker and a heartbreaker, as she was a stunning, well dressed and lovely lady well into her 90s. Betty loved jewelry and even made her own. Her father, Hyman Holsman, was a jeweler by profession. Her mother was Nelly Brenner Holsman. Betty graduated from Sullivan High School in Chicago and attended Mundelein College briefly before marriage. Betty and her husband were members of Temple Isaiah of Palm Springs, Calif. and members of Canyon Country Club. Betty supported numerous charities including Diamonds of the Desert, City of Hope, The Humane Society, Guide Dogs for the Blind, The Jewish Federation, The Jewish National Fund and The American Cancer Society. Betty will be remembered for her wit, compassion, patience and unconditional love. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mortuary in Cathedral City on Sunday, January 5th, 2013 at 12:00 pm. A reception will follow in the Ramon Room at Forest Lawn, Cathedral City. Betty will be interred next to her beloved Danny at a private ceremony in Skokie, Ill.
