Bertha Ann Vanecek Rawlings

Bertha Anne Vanecek Rawlings, 78, of Cathedral City, Calif., passed away March 30, 2014, in Cathedral City. She was born December 3, 1935, to John and Rhoda Vanecek in Lincoln, Neb. She married Richard James on June 8, 1957 in Omaha, Neb. She was an Advanced Clinical Nurse in Surgery at Desert Hospital for 37 years. She was a faithful member of the Community Presbyterian Church as an Elder. She served on the worship committee and as a Financial Clerk. She will be greatly missed by her vast circle of loved ones. She is survived by her daughter, April (Craig) Nicolson of Phelan, Calif.; her sons, John (Yvonne) Rawlings of Cathedral City, Calif. and Bill (Jennifer) Rawlings of Thousand Palms, Calif.; her sister, Betty (Leonard) Petty of Omaha, Neb.; her brothers, Frank (Carol) Vanecek of Omaha, Neb., Fred (Barbara) Vanecek of Kansas City, Mo. and Donald (Diane) Vanecek of Blair, Neb.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard James Rawlings. A Funeral Service in her honor will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:00 am at Community Presbyterian Church of Cathedral City, 38088 Chuperosa Lane, (760) 328-2734. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Community Presbyterian Church of Cathedral City. Forest Lawn Cathedral City is in charge of arrangements.
