Bernice Ann Frank, passed at 6:25 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the age of 87, at her home in Montclair, California. She was born October 11, 1936, to Alexander Joseph Thomatis and Hilda Mary (Dubois) Thomatis in New Orleans, Louisiana. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents Alexander Thomatis and Hilda Mary (Dubois) Thomatis, her sister Ella (Thomatis) Ellis, and her husband Edward Charles Frank.
Bernice moved from New Orleans, Louisiana to Los Angeles, California in the mid-1950s to start a new life and initially resided with her god parents Alvarez and Bernice Walters. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she worked for the phone company as a telephone operator. In 1958 she married her husband Edward Frank whom she met while he was a United States Postal worker delivering mail to her residence. Edward and Bernice were married 64 years and had three children: Tirzah, Lisa and Jason.
In October 1975, Edward and Bernice moved their family from Los Angeles to Ontario, California. Bernice did not work during the time she raised her children until her youngest child entered high school. At that time, she started employment with Gemmel Pharmacy in Chino, CA. She worked as the bookkeeper for the Chino store and also in the main store providing service to customers at the local pharmacy. Bernice worked at Gemmel Pharmacy from November 1985 until December 2006 when she retired.
While raising her children, she was active in the schools they attended participating in the PTA, serving as a room mother and always supporting her children in extracurricular activities.
Bernice was raised in a Catholic home and maintained a strong faith in God. She was always loving, kind-hearted and selfless to her family and friends. She was always a woman of faith in the Lord.
Bernice leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters Tirzah Gray (Arthur), Lisa Frank (Carlton); one son, Jason Frank (Terry), one grandson Andre Frank, one great grandson Trevor Frank, two stepdaughters Jacqueline Frank Paige and Sharon Frank, her sister Judy Thomatis, her brother Armond Thomatis (Sharon) and a host of step-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, family and very special friends.
