Haverhill, MA: Bernice (Pszybysz) Descheneau, 86, formerly of Bradford and Haverhill died on May 11, 2016 at Prescott House in North Andover, MA.

Born and raised in Haverhill, daughter of the late Thomas Pszybysz and Annie (Ozkowska) (Pszybysz) Leschinski, she graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1947. She also attended Northern Essex Community College, where she received a Degree in Data Entry.

As a young woman, Mrs. Descheneau was employed in the local shoe industry. She was most recently employed as an ombudsman and elder advocate by the Council on Aging Office at the Citizens Center and had also worked for the Meals on Wheels Program and as a crossing guard for the City of Haverhill.

A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Rita's Parish and St. Michael's Parish, Mrs. Descheneau was the 2007 recipient of the D. Raymond Taffe Award for outstanding community outreach and leadership.

She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene A. Descheneau in 1982 and her son, Eugene A. Descheneau, Jr. in 2006, and is survived by three daughters, Gina Dryer and her husband James of Salem, NH, Maria Wansker and her husband Richard of Haverhill, and Rosemarie Flanagan of Bradford, a daughter-in-law, Mary "Pat" Descheneau of Plaistow, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter Pszybysz Previs, and her sister, Lorraine Cheney.

The family would like to thank the staff at Prescott House for the kindness, respect, and care provided to Mrs. Descheneau and to the support and care shown to her daughters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Descheneau's Life Celebration on Sunday, May 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Monday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA.
