Benjamin Alexander Reyes Gerez, lovingly known as “Benjie,” was born on Wednesday, May 26, 2001, to Aimee Reyes Mitchell and Emmanuel Gerez, Jr. He was one of seven brothers—Donovan, Xavier, Connor, Nathan, Niko, and Noah—and held a special place as the third among them.
Benjie was known for his vibrant spirit, his love of singing, and his unforgettable presence. Whether performing in the children’s choir at St. John the Baptist, participating in school plays at Eastvale Elementary, singing at his grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary, or joyfully taking the microphone during family karaoke, Benjie’s voice was always full of life—loud, fast, and full of heart. His bright smile could light up any room, and his energy brought joy to everyone around him.
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Benjamin passed away unexpectedly at the age of 24. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. The loss was sudden and unimaginable, and his absence will be felt forever.
Benjamin is also lovingly remembered by his step-parents, Mark Mitchell and Angela Gerez; his grandparents, Daniel and Editha Reyes, Zoltan and June Katona, and Emmanuel and Erlinda Gerez; along with many extended family members and friends who cherished him deeply.
Benjie’s life, though far too short, was filled with music, laughter, and love. He will be remembered always for the joy he brought into the world and the lasting imprint he leaves on every heart he touched.
