Benjamin “Ben” Eric Alzalde died peacefully in his sleep on October 16, 2024, in Cathedral City, CA. He was 36 years old. Born on January 20, 1988, in Palm Springs, CA, Ben moved to Milwaukee, WI, with his mother and sister when he was 5 years old. As an adult, he bounced around the U.S. and returned to California.
Throughout his childhood, he was a sports fanatic and played school and club sports including swimming, baseball, basketball, track and football. He even played in a curling league for a bit. His true passion was football. He played football from middle school through college and was an WFCA all-star athlete and WR1 wide receiver while playing for Milwaukee Lutheran High School. Injuries sidelined his dream of playing professional football, but he was able to pivot naturally to a career in service.
Being a social butterfly at a young age, Ben parlayed his gift of gab into a successful career as a bartender. His charisma, kindness, and ability to befriend just about anyone, proved useful working in the service industry for over 10 years. He was also an amateur poker player and loved spending time with his pets, family and friends.
Family was most important to Ben. He was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed. Although he is no longer with us, his spirit will be everlasting and he is among the angels with his mother, who lovingly called him B.B., as well as his grandparents, aunt Mina and cousin Frankie.
Ben is preceded by his mother, Lindy Carthway Alzalde, and succeeded by his father, Benjamin of Cathedral City, sister, Lisa (Mikey Chaulkin) of Milwaukee, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31 at Forest Lawn in Cathedral City starting at 10a.m., followed by a service at 11a.m. with burial at Desert Memorial Park, Cathedral City. Webcast streaming is available for the service.
