Bayani Clima Reyes

April 3, 1939 — January 28, 2013

Bayani Clima Reyes, 73, born on April 3, 1939, in General Trias, Philippines, passed away January 28, 2013. He was a hard working farmer in his younger years when he met his late spouse, Leonor Casco Reyes (April 12, 1942-August 7, 2006). They both had aspired to relocate to the United States of America where they hoped to one day live the American Dream. Bayani and Leonor soon had children and raised them on what very little money they had. When the opportunity arose for Bayani to find work in the United States, he did not hesitate to do so, leaving his beloved wife and kids to one day realize his hope for a better life for his family.

Bayani worked on a naval base, golf course in Hawaii for several years, sending all of his earnings to Leonor to provide for herself and his children and lived on what little he had left. Determined to get his family to America, he petitioned his wife and each one of his children, and soon they were all reunited. He was the sole provider of six children, Lita, Fernando, Merlinda, Cecilia, Leilani and Analyn, and one grandaughter, Sunshine.

Bayani loved his family very much and wanted to keep everyone close. With great will, strength and determination, he was able to provide food and shelter for his growing family as they lived in a small apartment in Anaheim, California. He continued to work as a maintenance worker for Centralia School District for
several years and was able to eventually purchase a beautiful home for his family in Buena Park, California. With many years spent working and caring for his family, children and grandchildren, he finally realized his dream.

In 2003, his youngest daughter, Analyn graduated from high school. Soon after, Bayani retired from Centralia after having worked there for over 25 years, and relocated to Chandler, Arizona to conquer his next dream: which was to spend the rest of his life with his beautiful wife Leonor by his side. Although it was short lived, the time he spent with Leonor traveling and enjoying their time together was everything he could have ever imagined and more.

Here we are, six years later, honoring and mourning the tragic loss of a great, honorable, giving and loving individual, who sacrificed his life to create a better one for his children. Dad, your name says it all... you are a true hero. We love you "Tatay." Your memory will never be forgotten.

Bayani is survived by his children: Lita Reyes, Fernando Reyes, Merlinda Olaes, Cecilia True, Leilani Sayoc, and Analyn Maday; his grandchildren: Charmaine Reyes, Jason Reyes, Jonathan Cenica, Jeff Cenica, Rachel Reyes, Jerick Reyes, Matt Newquist, Ellisa Newquist, Jennifer Newquist, Michael Newquist, Gianna Newquist, Allen True, Dylan True, Hillary True, Katherine Sayoc, Kyle Sayoc; great grandchild: Helene Roa.

Bayani spent his last few days at his home residence in Chandler, Arizona, with his children, and grandchildren at his side, as he took his last breath. May he rest in eternal peace.
