Barbara Lynn Summers, 76, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, after a short fight with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Marlin; her four children, Stephen (Lorraine), Robyn (John), Joseph, and Rebekah; her six grandchildren, R.J., Kimberly, Maylynn, Grey, Easton, and Quinn; her great-grandson, Malakai; and her brother, David Heath.
Barbara was born and raised in La Crescenta, California, and attended Lincoln Elementary School, Valley View Elementary, Clark Middle School, and Crescenta Valley High School. After graduating, Barbara toured the world with the USO in her band, Unexpected Company, as a gifted singer and talented guitar player.
After settling back in La Crescenta, she met and married the love of her life, Marlin Summers, on October 30, 1977. A tireless volunteer at both her children’s elementary school, Calvary Christian, in Glendale, California, and her church, First Baptist Church of Montrose (now Light on the Corner Church), where she continually attended throughout her life. She was often found at the church, giving her time in various groups and committees, ensuring the church's finances were in order, organizing and running events, and for decades was a fixture as the worship leader at the grand piano, with her strong alto vocals.
Of her many accomplishments, she would likely say her greatest joy was to be able to stay home and raise her four children. Once her children were grown, her joy continued as Barbara welcomed six grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and faithfully helped take care of.
Barbara is sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Please join us in honoring Barbara and her life well-lived at Forest Lawn Glendale, 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA 91205.
