Plaistow: Barbara A. (Bayek) Lapinskas, 84, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at her home following a long illness.

Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, daughter of the late John and Marjorie (Tremblay) Bayek, she was raised in Plaistow and attended the Pollard School. She later graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1948.

Mrs. Lapinskas retired from A T & T Technologies of North Andover in 1994 with twenty years of service and had previously been employed at Keezer Manufacturing and TelMark Company and in the cafeteria of Timberlane Regional High School.

She was a member of Saint James Parish of Haverhill, The Telephone Pioneers and the Communication Workers of America, AFl-CIO.

Mrs. Lapinskas was an accomplished artist in oils and enjoyed painting flowers, landscapes and wildlife. She also enjoyed cooking and was an incredible baker well known for her pies and cookies. An avid traveler, she had visited Italy, Ireland, Spain, England, Morocco and Hawaii. She had an affinity for animals and had rescued two cats that she raised as pets.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, Albert Lapinskas of Plaistow, two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Lake and Debra and Seron Houlberg, all of Santa Fe, New Mexico, a sister and brother-in-law Diane and William Lowthers, of Ocala, Florida, a grand-daughter Jenica Waters and her husband Von of California.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., route 121A, Plaistow. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Liturgy of the Word and Blessing of the Body at 10a.m. in Saint James Church, Winter St., Haverhill. Donations may be made to Feline Friends, P.O.Box 2452, Salem NH. The family wishes to thank Dr. Lydia Zuser, MD and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful care and comfort provided to Mrs. Lapinskas and her family.
