In Loving Memory

We celebrate the life of Barbara Ann Boatner.

Barbara Ann Boatner was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 20, 1943, to parents Ernest L. Madison and Lorraine Sorina Madison and passed away on July 26th, 2024, in Redland, California. She was the eldest of six sisters: Linda Rodney, Glinda Casby, Ernestine Butler, Pamela Torregano, and Debra Bernard, with whom she shared a deep bond.

From an early age, Barbara’s love for music and her incredible singing talent were clear. She grew up in a nurturing environment at Asia Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir alongside her grandfather, Edward Madison (minister), her grandmother Nelly Madison, and her parents. Her deep knowledge of God helped her develop personal philosophies that guided her throughout her life. These guiding principles set the standard for how she raised her children to put God first, and that all things are possible.

Barbara’s life journey led her to Pasadena, California, where she lovingly raised her five children: Kim Lynae Halliburton, Irwin Boatner III, Carles Renee Boatner-Johnson, Ernest Anthony Boatner, and Kelly Lorraine Boatner, and an exceptional grandmother and great-grandmother to twenty children: Erin, Ashante, Madison, Pierce, Cahsai, Des-Yah, Alexys, Xavier, Quinton, Zakarayah, and Yesha. A doting great-grandmother to Bryce, Cahsai Jr., Zahmai, Kashton, Uriah, Zoey, Zayir, Amara, and Zakarayah Jr.

Barbara’s parents Ernest and Lorraine, her sisters Pamela and Ernestine, her son, Ernest Anthony Boatner, and her great-grandson, Kashton Harvey, preceded her in death. Her spirit and teachings will live on through the generations of her family and she will be forever in our hearts.
