Balwinder Sukhija

Balwinder Singh Sukhija, lovingly known as “Ben,” passed away on December 21, 2024 peacefully at the age of 91. Born on August 12, 1933, in Faridkot, Punjab, India, Ben was the son of Bakhtawar and Rajinder Sukhija and the second eldest of five siblings (Joginder Sukhija, Rajinder Sukhija, Harpal Sukhija, Baldev Sukhija, Darshan Mutneja).

In 1956, Ben moved to Yuba City, CA, earned a bachelor's degree in engineering in Chicago, and worked as a civil engineer for Los Angeles County for over 30 years. He also became a successful real estate investor.

In 1967, he married Usha Sukhija, and together they built a beautiful life, raising three children—Kuldip, Nirmal, and Sukhpal—and sharing 57 wonderful years of marriage. Ben was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his three grandchildren: Twinkle, Lakshdeep, and Akashdeep.

A philanthropist at heart, Ben was known for his kindness and willingness to help others. He loved traveling with Usha, running marathons, and spending time outdoors fishing and camping with his sons.

Ben’s generosity, love, and strength leave an enduring legacy. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. A memorial service will be held on January 14, 2025 at the Church of the Recessional located in Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA.
