Arturo Servin

Arturo Servin, age 92, passed away January 26, 2026 due to metastatic lung cancer. In the last weeks of his life, he suffered immensely because the pain from bone and brain metastases could not be abated. Over the span of 2.5 years, he was failed by the healthcare/medical insurance industries who often leave the elderly with no medical options aside from ineffective medical treatments and hospice care. 

On his last day of life, Arturo's family could only watch as he struggled with pain after hospice pain medication proved to be ineffective. He did not go peacefully into the night.  His family watched the light go from his eyes and turn gray. The vast damage caused by brain mets left him unable to communicate with his family. His passing was a harrowing experience and his family was grateful that he was no longer in pain once he passed. 

Arturo was a flawed but loving man who demonstrated his love and affection in often brusque and careless ways. He was left to fend for himself at a young age and he became a provider to his younger siblings and extended family who ultimately did not reciprocate the care and monetary support he gave them. He was a mystery to his children who never really knew him as a person but loved him nonetheless. He leaves behind the only people who loved him, his companion, Maria, and their two children, Arthur and Yvette.  His family will miss him for the rest of their lives. May God rest his soul.
