Our beloved brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend Arthur Garfield Morrison passed away on January 6, 2020 after a lengthy illness. He will be greatly missed. Art was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 8, 1942 to Stewart Morrison and Helen Troyer Morrison. His father was drafted to serve in World War II and was killed in battle in December, 1944 leaving a lifelong hole in Art's heart.
Art's early years were spent in Grand Island, Nebraska and South Bend, Indiana. After Helen married his stepfather, Wesley Bogdan, Art became an army brat, living in Del Ray Oaks, California, Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Corbin, Kentucky. It was in Corbin that Art became a high school football star and met his first wife Judy. Their children Pamela and Andre were born in Phoenix, Arizona before the family to Los Angeles. Art pursued a long career in the defense industry as well as getting a degree from Pepperdine University. Art and Judy divorced.
Art married his beloved second wife Susan in 1985. They enjoyed a full and active life of hard work, faith and fellowship in their church community, Clan Morrison, disaster relief volunteering, and many exciting travel adventures to points in the United States and around the world. Art was proud of his house and was an avid gardener, growing many fruits and vegetables which he shared with friends and family. Art was very interested in military history and was able to reenact famous battles with soldiers, artillery, and the fields of engagement. Susan and Art volunteered on the SS Victory Ship and participated in the annual Scottish games as well as many other activities. We fondly remember Art for his enthusiasm for practical jokes and fun of all kinds.
His wife Susan passed away in March of 2018 and his daughter Pamela passed away in July, 2019. He is survived by his son Andy Morrison, grandson Slade Morrison, his sisters Penelope Lynne and Rebecca Bogdan, nieces Beth and Heather Allen, and Nora and Rachel Slade. We will miss him greatly.
