Armenta “Trish” Stubbs, 81, born December 22, 1944, in Chicago, passed away February 13, 2026, in Los Angeles.
Known lovingly as Trish or Tricia, she carried a radiant smile and warm presence wherever she went. Though life was not always easy, she met it with resilience, grace, and generosity. She was truly the kind of friend everyone hopes to have.
Trish devoted her life to caring for others, especially children. She worked as a preschool teacher at Los Altos Child Care in Pacific Beach, where she lovingly prepared Spanish-speaking students for English grade school. Teaching was her calling, and children were naturally drawn to her nurturing spirit.
A gifted creative, Trish studied sewing in Alkford and became an accomplished costume designer. In San Diego, she owned a pillow business, Rainbow House Pillows, reflecting her colorful imagination and love for handmade beauty. She designed every Halloween costume for her Goddaughter Brittany until age nine and found joy in sewing, crocheting, and crafting. She loved literature — especially the works of William Shakespeare — and enjoyed music, playing both the flute and piano. She later retired from AAA.
A lover of travel, Trish cherished a memorable trip to Europe and fulfilled her lifelong dream in 2005 of living near Hollywood Boulevard. She adored the beach, reading, cherries and strawberries, photography, and long conversations about books and film.
In her Los Angeles apartment community, she formed a special bond with her neighbor Carlos, whom she embraced like a son. In turn, he cared for her with devotion when her health declined. Their doors were often open to one another — a reflection of their chosen family and deep connection.
Trish is survived by her dear friend Martha Yancey; Renee Yancey; Al R Banks; James Yancey; Alicia Banks; her devoted Goddaughter Brittany Yancey; her God-grandson Jourdan Yancey Smith, Niece and nephew Malaysia Yancey and Roymont Letchaw; and her chosen son, Carlos. She leaves behind countless students, friends, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by her kindness and creativity.
She now rests in eternal peace, reunited in heaven with her beloved mother, Cora Stubbs
