Armando Caray Casasola, 8O, passed away peacefully alongside his wife, Remedios Casasola, and daughters, Elizabeth and Cynthia Casasola, on Saturday, June 10, 2023 in Los Angeles, California.
Armando was born on May 7, 1943 to Alfredo and Antonia Casasola in Lanao, Philippines. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Beda College with a degree in Philosophy. He met wife, Remy, as a graduate student of Sociology at the Asian Social Institute. They both became professors at De La Salle University where Armando taught both Sociology and Political Science. He then received a scholarship to USC where he was to obtain a PhD in Sociology. However, his program was cut short when he received news that his father died. He received a Masters Degree instead as he had to return to the Philippines to assist his mom and became the sole breadwinner for his family which included his nine brothers and one sister.
He came to Los Angeles in 1972 with wife, Remy. There they raised their two daughters, Elizabeth and Cynthia Casasola. He was a dedicated teacher for 31 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District. After retiring, he found immense joy as the Assistant Coach of the Martin Luther King High School Varsity Girls Basketball team in New York City, where daughter Cynthia was also a teacher. His passions included his family and grandchildren, teaching, coaching, giving back to those in need, advising and being a mentor to his many friends and family, real estate, daily exercise and of course, his beloved Lakers.
Armando is survived by his wife, Remy Casasola, two daughters, Elizabeth and Cynthia Casasola, and two grandchildren Kainoa and Keila Beaubrun.
Armando is also survived by his brothers, Alberto Casasola, Ariston Casasola, Adriano Casasola and Alex Casasola, and sister Amelia Casasola.
Armando is preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Antonia Casasola and brothers Angelino Casasola, Adolfo Casasola, Amado Casasola, Arthur Casasola and Alfonso Casasola.
A wake and funeral will take place at Forest Lawn in Glendale on July 21 and July 22, 2023.
