Arlynn Louise Maupin, was born in Forsyth, Montana to Dorothy H. Baringer and Charles R. McNay. It was the end of the Great Depression and the McNay family moved to California and settled in Burbank. Arlynn graduated from John Burroughs High School in 1951. She met Mendell (Jim) L. Maupin after he finished serving in the U.S. Infantry and they married in May of 1950. Jim and Arlynn had 4 children together, Kathryn, Deborah, Kimberly and Steve. The Family enjoyed many years in Burbank surrounded by family, friends, and lovely neighbors. Arlynn had one of the first swimming pools on the block, so the neighborhood kids would be over all the time. She loved celebrating all the holidays, but Halloween and Christmas were her favorite. She would go all out making a haunted house every year with her son Steve. At Thanksgiving, the family would help decorate the house for Christmas and it was a sight to behold! Arlynn worked as a Customer Service Representative for ITT General Controls until her retirement and Jim worked as an Electrician for Southern Pacific Railroad. Sadly, Arlynn lost her husband Jim on November 28, 1995, from pancreatic cancer. Arlynn continued to live in the Burbank house with her daughter Kathy and her grandson Daniel. Years later, due to health concerns, Arlynn and Kathy moved to Santa Clarita, California, where they could live closer to Steve and his family. They enjoyed some years in the house on Shelter Cove in Santa Clarita. Tragedy struck again on December 5th, 2011, when Kathy passed away at home in her mother's arms due to peritonitis from strangulated intestines. Three years later, on July 19, 2014, Arlynn hosted a wedding at her house. It was an intimate and memorable event for her daughter in law's sister Rose and her now husband Robert. In 2020, A pandemic forced everyone to quarantine at home and Arlynn managed to avoid the dreaded COVID 19 but other aspects of her health continued to fail. In 2021, Arlynn moved into her son and daughter in laws home where they built her a beautiful studio living space in Santa Clarita. Steve was her caregiver for the few years that remained to her and she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren Sinjin and Piper. She even managed to attend Piper's High School Graduation from Saugus High School. That graduation was something that she had looked forward to and of course cookies and ice cream also helped. Arlynn celebrated her 90th birthday this year and people came from near and far to spend time with her and give her some love. Four months after her 90th birthday she passed peacefully at home. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA. Her beloved grandson Jason Christner will be leading the memorial services on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 9am.
