Arline Louise Rabjohn

October 20, 1933 — May 25, 2017

Arline Louise Rabjohn passed away on May 25, 2017 at age 83 in Glendale, California, surrounded by her loved ones.

Arline was born on October 20, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA to Charles and Minnette (Collier) Baird. When Minnette got remarried in 1945 to Conrad "Ed" Hans, he adopted both Arline and her sister. She grew up in South Los Angeles and graduated from George Washington High School where she received the highest honor of the Alumni Award in 1951. She attended UC Berkeley and UCLA graduating with a degree in Home Economics in 1955. Following college, Arline was very proud to become a stewardess for United Airlines and shortly after that, working for the Los Angeles Times.

In 1961, Arline married Joseph N. Van Pelt and had one daughter, Christine. During her marriage she was a stay-at-home Mom, but went back to school for her teaching credential. After her separation from Joe, she began teaching elementary school for a few years, until 1977 when she married Raymond T. Rabjohn. Until Ray's death in 2009, the couple enjoyed cruises, traveling the globe, and the simple pleasures of boating and waterskiing at Canyon Lake, California, where they had a second home.

She will be remembered most for her incredible sense of humor and wit, amazing generosity, and absolute zest for life. She enjoyed being with her friends and family, attending social gatherings, and the comfort of animals, especially her childhood pet goat.

Arline is survived by her daughter, Christine Van Pelt; stepdaughter, Lois Quijano (Coco); sister, Nancy Olds (Tim); brother Robert Hans (Claudia), as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arline was interred on June 9, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA.
