Atkinson, NH: Arlene J. (Dumont) Huntress, age 83, of Atkinson was called home to the Lord on August 18, 2013 at Penacook Place in Haverhill, MA, where she received wonderful and loving care from all the staff at 3 South and Merrimack Valley Hospice. She was born on May 23, 1930 in Haverhill, the daughter of the late Emile F. and Helen (Huard) Dumont. She was the wife of the late Richard E. Huntress, Sr., who was called home to the Lord in 2002 and was pre-deceased by her brother Roland and sister Elizabeth (Betty) Boucher. Arlene was raised and educated in Haverhill, graduated from Haverhill High School Class of 1947 and had been a long time resident of Atkinson since 1957.
Arlene worked as a secretary for Western Electric in North Andover, MA for many years. She was the family "prayer warrior" and would pray for family and friends every morning and evening in her daily devotions. She loved reading, her soap operas, bird watching, the Red Sox, knitting and crocheting and had knitted many hats, scarves, and mittens over the years for local charities. Arlene was associated with Pentucket Baptist Church of Atkinson, the Alliance church of Haverhill and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Kingston for many years.
Arlene is survived by her brother Lucien Dumont and wife Phyllis of Harwich, MA, son, Stephen G. Colella and his fiancé, Teresa Esculano of Waterville, ME, daughter, Laurie J. Rubin and her husband, Jeffrey of Lynnfield, MA, step-sons, Richard E. Huntress, Jr. of Haverhill and his companion Jean Blackadar, Randy G. Huntress of CA, eight grandchildren; Stephen, Joelle, Michael, Dustin, Rick, John, Sarah, and Gabe, ten great grandchildren; Isabelle, Anthony, Lennon, Samantha, Emily, John, Jesse, Seth, Colton and Beckowen, many nieces and nephews and friends who touched her life.
There are no calling hours. A private family graveside service will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Haverhill, MA.
