Ardith Kounalis

Ardith Kounalis, 88, born on September 29, 1925 in Teasdale, Utah, passed away on May 12, 2014.
Byron, Her husband aged 90, passed away peacefully in their home in Valencia on May 11, 2014. It was the very next day, Ardith, his wife of 71 years joined him in eternal rest. They are survived and cherished by their two sons, Ron and Larry, and daughters-in-law, Raquel and Denice. They also leave behind grandchildren, Tammi, Byron (deceased), Heather (deceased), Holly, Ryan, and Nick, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Byron and Ardith's life began together in matrimony on March 27, 1943 in Utah. Byron, fondly known to the family as Granddad, served in the army and was honorably discharged in 1946. He made his living as a baker. Ardith, loving called Nonie, worked in the healthcare industry. Nonie and Granddad were involved, doting parents and grandparents, always proud of their kids' and grandkids' achievements. Over the years, they welcomed many into their home for engaging political conversations with Granddad and amazing home-cooked meals and mothering from Nonie. Ardith was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2002. Although it was a struggle for Byron to become a stranger to his own wife of so many years, he opted to keep the love of his life in their home, by his side, for the rest of their lives… a true love story for the ages.

There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony on Saturday, May 31st at 1:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints at 27827 Skycrest Circle Drive, Valencia, CA 91355
