Archie Mcvicar

McVicar, Archie, aged 87, beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2013 in Anaheim, California. He was born on August 21, 1926 in Birch Grove, Nova Scotia, Canada to John William McVicar and Sarah Eleanor Winstanley, the 4th son in a family of 10 siblings. He joined the Canadian Air Force at the age of 17 and lived in Toronto, Canada where he married Anne Thomson on July 21, 1951. He moved with his family from Canada to Southern California in 1959, settling in Anaheim where he resided until his death. He held a number of odd jobs through the years and retired from Bergen Brunswick Corporation in 1986 after 28 years of employment. Archie loved hockey, swap meets, the outdoors, warm temperatures, and the sand and surf. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anne; his two sons, Martin and Ron; his brother, Ralph; and his two sisters, Doris and Dorothy. He touched many lives in memorable ways and will be deeply missed by a strong circle of family and countless close friends that spans across generations and geographies. His warm spirit and sense of humor made an indelible impression on everyone he met. Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cypress, California on Wednesday December 4 from 5-9 PM with burial on Thursday December 5 at 11:30 AM.
