Elder Antonio J. Cabrera, has left a mark on the hearts of many during his time on this earth. Born on March 27, 1926, he dedicated his life to spreading love, faith, and compassion to all who crossed his path. On April 19, 2024, Pastor Cabrera peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
Elder Cabrera pastored Spanish-Speaking churches in the Southern California Conference since 1969, including San Fernando, Carson, Canoga Park, La Voz de la Esperanza, and Newhall. He also built two churches (Van Nuys Spanish and San Fernando Spanish), merged two churches (La Voz de la Esperanza and Sylmar Spanish, as a retiree), purchased two churches (for La Voz-Sylmar and Newhall Spanish, as a retiree).
About three-four years ago, Elder Cabrera lost his hearing, but he communicated with everyone with an Ipad, reading what people said. This situation didn't prevent him from preaching when asked. On Sabbath, March 30, 2024, he preached his last sermon at the Shalom Spanish church.
His commitment to serving his community knew no bounds, as he tirelessly worked to provide guidance and support to those in need. Pastor Cabrera's words were not just spoken; they were lived through his actions of kindness and selflessness. His unwavering faith inspired others to find strength in times of darkness.
