Sandown, NH: Anthony L. Lopez, 85, of Sandown and a former longtime resident of Atkinson, NH and Wilmington, MA, died on August 16, 2014.
Born, raised, and educated in Winchester, MA, son of the late Anthony and Christina (Fracassa) Lopez, he attended Winchester High School where he was a member of the Varsity Football Team. Mr. Lopez served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class.
Most recently, Mr. Lopez served as Sergeant in the Atkinson Police Department. He had also been employed as a part time police officer for the Sandown Police Department and for the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department. He was also employed as a truck driver for Purity Supreme for over thirty years.
An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, Mr. Lopez was a member of the Atkinson Lions Club and enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra. He most enjoyed his public service as a police officer.
He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Cramer) Lopez, and is survived by three sons, Ronald G. Lopez and his wife Dianne of Whitinsville, MA, Robert A. Lopez of Hampton, NH, and Anthony L. Lopez, Jr. and his fiancé Sarah Oakley of Dover, NH, three daughters, Sheryl A. Gavin of Epping and her companion Keith Marden of South Hampton, Sallyanne Geary-Carney and her husband Kevin Carney of Methuen, MA, and Cynthia M. Fracassa and her husband Christopher of Warwich, RI, a brother Leonard Lopez and his wife Theresa of Florida, two sisters, Carolyn Steed and her husband William of Wilmington, MA and Nancy Nardone of Woburn, MA, seventeen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Louis Lopez, and predeceased by his brother, Joseph Lopez.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service with Police Department and Military Honors on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Atkinson Cemetery, Main Street, Atkinson, NH.
