Annette Molette

Nov 24, 1936 — Jun 2, 2026

Annette Molette, age 89, was born on November 24, 1936, in Poplar Creek, Mississippi, to Joe Cephais Trotter and Earmia Trotter. She was one of nine children born to this union. During her childhood, the family relocated to Duck Hill, Mississippi, where they endured the hardship of losing their home to fire twice. While her family rebuilt, Annette spent time in Kilmichael, Mississippi, with her beloved Aunt Ollie.

From an early age, Annette demonstrated remarkable strength, determination, and resilience. She was entrusted with many of the responsibilities traditionally assigned to her brothers, and approached every task with confidence and diligence. Her father often relied on her to help with chores while her older brothers were away working. One memorable childhood story reflects her spirited nature and toughness. After her brother, Ed, attempted to prove his strength by tying her up, Annette quickly freed herself and gave chase, leaving no doubt about her determination and resolve.

Among her many responsibilities was washing the family's laundry. At a time when their home had no running water, Annette developed an efficient system, loading clothes into a wagon or wheelbarrow and transporting them to a nearby creek. There, she completed the family's laundry with pride and dedication, turning a difficult chore into one she mastered with care.

Annette graduated from Springhill Vocational High School in 1954 and earned a degree in Business Education from Rust College in 1958. She later married Hermon Molette, and the couple had three children. In 1960, Annette and Hermon moved from Mississippi to California to build their future.

Annette began her professional career in accounting with EFMC in Compton, California. She later established a distinguished career in Customer Service with Southern California Gas Company, where she faithfully served for more than 30 years before retiring.

Throughout her life, Annette found joy in gardening, particularly tending to her beloved roses, sewing, and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the corner where she and her family resided.

As her health declined, Annette often comforted herself by softly singing the words, “I am alright, I am alright.” And when she was ready to depart this life, the singing ceased.

Annette is survived by her three children, who will forever cherish her memory: Adrine Marquetta Molette, Pamelia Molette-Williams (Eugene Jr.), and Tristan Robert Molette, all of Carson, California. Her grandchildren also survive her: Eugene Williams-Morales III (Ashley), Andre Molette, Tamal Williams-Hampton (Demetrius), T’ona Hodge, and Davion Molette; and her great-grandchildren, Pierre and Trevor.

She is further survived by two sisters, Laura Trotter-Reeves (Theoftis) and Linnie Trotter, both of French Camp, Mississippi; one brother, Howard Trotter of Ackerman, Mississippi; and a host of brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Annette and Hermon also lovingly raised her nephew, Aubrey Renel Trotter, whom they considered their son. He preceded her in death.

Annette's life was a testament to perseverance, dedication, love, and service. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
