Anne Roberts Smith, 85, born on April 30, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA, United States, passed away October 15, 2019. She resided in Desert Hot Springs, CA at the time of her passing. Local arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, California. Anne was married to Alvin Duane Smith, a former minister at Overbrook Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and The First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica. She was predeceased by her parents, Florence Patton and Osborne Rensselaer Roberts, and her brothers, James Patton Roberts and Samuel Ranken Roberts. After graduating from the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA, and Smith College in Northampton, MA with a degree in Chemistry, she was employed by the Foote Mineral Company in Exton, PA. Following her marriage, Anne served with her husband in churches across the country until Al's death in 1994. She then devoted her time and talents to churches in the Presbytery of Riverside.
Anne is survived by her sisters-in-law Elizabeth Roberts Rowcliffe of Seattle, WA and Nancy Horlacher Roberts of Audubon, PA; Alvin's children Ted Smith, Rebecca (Tom) White, and Roberta (Clifford) Allen; Nieces Joan (Michael) Barminski, Dorothy (Sean) Corry, Virginia (Ted) Edwards, and Sarah (Paul) Harrison; Nephews Thomas (Melissa) Roberts, John (Sally) Roberts, and Samuel (Anne) Roberts Jr.; Grandnieces and nephews Megan (Matt) Mabe, Jason (Kelly) Edwards, Melissa (Nate) Kocon, John Roberts Jr., Joshua Roberts, Beth Eileen Corry, Jamie (Samantha) Edwards, Lydia Anne Roberts, Andrew (Amy) Harrison, David Corry, Scott (Victoria) Edwards, Edward Roberts, Stephanie (Ananda) Copeland, Michael Barminski Jr., Tyler (Alex) Harrison, and Elizabeth Barminski; and Great grand nieces and nephews Caffrey Edwards, Andrew Kocon, Madeleine Mabe, Athena Edwards, Magnolia Mabe, Cooper Kocon, Cruz Harrison, and Marianne Mabe.
Anne will be buried with her husband, Alvin Duane Smith, at the Patton Family grave, with a graveside celebration of her life held on November 29 at 10:30 AM at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Contributions may be made in her name to the Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, 56750 Mountain View Trail, Yucca Valley, CA USA 92284.
