Angelina Chacon

November 1, 1944 — October 1, 2024

Angelina "Angie" Chacon, 79, of Thermal, CA, went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2024, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born at home in El Centro, CA on November 1, 1944, to Fidel and Anita Hernandez and passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, sisters and loved ones. She is survived by her four children: Roxanne (Braddy) Ries of La Quinta, Christopher Chacon (Jenny Viguerie) of Mission Viejo, Gabriel (Elizabeth) Chacon of West Covina, and Angela Chacon (Mark Strauss)of La Quinta, CA, eight beautiful grandchildren, and her six sisters including Carmen Sandoval of Mexicali, Fidelia Meza of Calexico, Amelia Hernandez of Palm Desert, Gloria Hernandez of Palm Desert, Juanita Hernandez of Cathedral City, and Mary Esther Franz of Cathedral City and their families.

She was married in Palm Springs at the age of twenty-four and worked diligently to provide for her family alongside her husband. Angie attended Imperial Valley College and worked full-time for the County of Riverside as an outreach coordinator to fight the War on Poverty in 1967 and then as a court transcriber. She transitioned to part-time hours upon having children in order to be there during their formative years and then stopped working to be a stay-at-home mother. She returned to the workforce in 1983 as a secretary at E.F. Hutton Stock Brokerage Firm and then moved to Abel, Krieger and Wilmeth Tax Firm where she retired at the age of sixty in 2004. She was always a dependable employee who took great pride in her job, but her most meaningful roles were wife and mother for which she devoted her effort and time to ensure her husband and children's well-being.

Angie was loving, giving, understanding, and was there for her children any time they needed a listening ear. Her children's current-day success was built upon her unending support and their parents' shared dedication to provide a great education. She always put the needs of others before her own and never spoke ill of another which are primary characteristics of her Catholic faith that she practiced faithfully. Angie was poised, humble, compassionate, and possessed an unmatched kindness that is rare these days.

In her leisure time, Angie loved life and embraced its many pleasures like tasty food, extensive travel, fun outings, dancing, admiring the beach, attending concerts, going to Las Vegas to celebrate the New Year, but most of all being with family. She was the heart and soul of her family being a kind sister, nurturing mother, supportive grandmother, and a loving wife of fifty-six years who was preceded in death by her husband, Trinidad Chacon. who passed away a mere three months before her on July 1, 2024. Their love was one for the ages and she could not live for long without her life partner whom she deeply missed. She longed to be reunited with him at Heaven's gate, but also appreciated the remaining days here that were spent being with her children and sisters.

Her absence will be deeply felt by all who loved her and the joy, strength, and commitment to family that she demonstrated in life will inspire her friends, children, siblings, and loved ones to press on to live full lives with purpose, togetherness, and faith like she did. She will be greatly missed and the memories of her will be continually cherished. In her honor, a memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn in Cathedral City on November 11, 2024, from 4pm-8pm. In addition, there will be a Catholic Mass at 10:30 am on November 12, 2024, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in La Quinta followed by a burial service at 12 noon at the Coachella Valley Public Cemetery in Coachella. A reception to celebrate her life will follow.
