Obituary

Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Angela 'Lina' Ostrovsky, who passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 83, in Los Angeles, California.

Born Angela Nicassio on January 11, 1943, in Adelfia, Provincia Di Bari, Italia to Francesco Nicassio and Pasqua Ressa. She was a loving sister to Trifone Nicassio, Nicola Nicassio, and Maria Nicassio Maffei, and a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Angela's life was one of resilience, determination, and love. At the age of nine, she emigrated with her family to La Plata, Argentina, where she learned Spanish, attended school, and later married her first husband, Nicasio 'Nick' Barrionuevo in 1961. They moved to Los Angeles in 1962, where she devoted herself to raising her four children while building a successful career in aerospace electronics technology. Later, she married David Ostrovsky, relocated to San Diego, and became the owner of her own fine jewelry and watch business.

Angela’s greatest gift was the love she shared with others. She had a beautiful smile, a contagious laugh, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She enjoyed traveling, music, dancing, discovering new restaurants, and experiencing all that life had to offer. Most of all, Angela treasured being surrounded by family and friends. She loved being part of celebrations, gatherings, and special moments with the people she cared about most. Whether it was a family event, a party with friends, a meal shared together, or simply enjoying the company of others, Angela brought warmth, laughter, and joy wherever she went. She had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged.

Angela is lovingly remembered by her children, Maria (James) Richey, Ramona (Douglas) Barrio-Sotillo, Danny (Nicole) Nicassio, and Pierangela (Luis) Sorino; her seven cherished grandchildren, Luis (Anthony), Pablo, Andrea, Alex, Alycia, John and Natalia.

Angela's greatest legacy is the love she shared so freely. Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
