Andre Tyreese Ivory

Andre Tyreese Ivory was carried away on the wings of love to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 24th, 2024. He is now dancing with the angels and ancestors with great abandon.

He is survived by Jacole Saulsberry, his partner; his mother, Marianne Price; two sisters, Andrea Demmerella-Whelchel (Sam) and Charlene Newhouse; one brother, Donell Ivory; nieces Jada and Shaunice; and nephews Tyrique and Aiden. His departure leaves an unfillable void, yet they find comfort in their shared memories and everlasting love.

Andre, a native of Los Angeles, CA, was born on July 13th, 1979. His journey in the arts began at the world-renowned LACHSA (Los Angeles County High School for the Arts) and culminated in a BFA in Dance from New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. His commitment to the arts was matched only by his dedication to his community, particularly the black and brown youth he served in NYC, a city he proudly called home.

Andre's dance prowess and ability were most notable in his work teaching and mentoring young people in the classroom and after-school programs. His rhythmic and soulful choreography continues to reverberate, a testament to his enduring legacy. The impact he had on the youth, instilling in them a love for the arts and a sense of discipline, is a gift that will continue to bear fruit.
