Haverhill, MA: Andre C. "Andy" Gagnon, 84, lovingly known as "Beekee", died on January 8, 2016 following a brief illness at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
Born in Methuen, MA, son of the late Gerard and Josephine (Michaud) Gagnon, he graduated from the Edward F. Searles High School with the Class of 1949. Mr. Gagnon went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Gagnon was employed as a mechanical engineer in the electronics industry for many years. He was also the owner and operator of Lover's Lane Blueberry and Christmas Tree Farm, often donating his earnings to local food pantries.
A former member of the American Tree Grower's Association, Mr. Gagnon was a life member of the St. Jude Council 6617 of Plaistow. He was also a member of the Wilber M. Comeau Post of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus of Plaistow, and a 4th Degree member of the Bishop Peterson Assembly of Salem, NH.
He enjoyed family gatherings, cruising, traveling, and mowing his lawn. Mr. Gagnon also enjoyed playing cards, especially 45's, and always seemed to be holding the Ace of Hearts.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Sylvia A. (Gosselin) Gagnon, two sons, Andy C. Gagnon, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Haverhill, Peter M. Gagnon and his wife Donna of Newton, NH, three daughters, Brenda Gioia and her husband Chuck of Haverhill, Judith Gagnon of New Hampshire, and Paula Gagnon and her partner David Deshaies of Methuen, "the other son" Howie Grosser of Concord, NH, three brothers, Donald Gagnon of Methuen, Gerard Gagnon of Methuen, and Roger Gagnon of Salem, NH, two sisters, Carol Branchard of East Kingston, NH, and Linda Houde of East Kingston, NH, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two daughters, Mary Margaret Gagnon and Caryn Marie Gagnon.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, January 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or a local food pantry of the donor's choice.
