Anastasia Deralas Obituary

Anastasia (Ann) Deralas (Loving Mother, Grandmother and Wife – widowed), 92, of Chino Hills, California, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 27, 2022, surrounded by family.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 10 at Saint John’s Greek Orthodox Church, 405 N Dale Ave, Anaheim California 92801, where Father Chris Retelas will be officiating, with early viewing at 10:30 am.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Covina Hills, CA.

Anastasia was born June 1, 1929, in Barberton, Ohio.  She was a high school graduate and prior to her marriage, she was employed by the FW Woolworth Company. She met her loving husband of 62 years, William (Bill) Deralas, in Akron, Ohio, and they were married on September 29, 1957. Anastasia was preceded in death by Bill who died on October 5, 2019.   William and Anastasia are now re-joined in paradise, celebrating life everlasting and her “re-birth” in Christ, Jesus!

After they married, Anastasia and Bill settled in Barberton, Ohio where they raised three sons together.  She was dedicated to both her church and family not only as a worshiping patron, but as a housewife and mother whose mission in life, although simple in nature, was to hold the reigns of the Deralas Dynasty, while she always kept her family in tune, she was also very dedicated to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, her church where she served in many capacities for many, many years.  She was blessed by a visiting Archbishop, His Eminance Archbishop  Iacovos of North and South America, and after he learned of the care and hours she spent polishing and cleaning the church artifacts and icons, He had given Her a special Blessing.

In 2003, Anastasia and Bill moved to Chino Hills, California, where all the remaining family had settled. In California she attended the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Anaheim. Family was her passion and most of her free time was spent with her grandchildren, children and other family members. When it came to children, she was the Pied Piper, they all loved Her. Although blessed with her three sons and grandson, destiny also brought her a granddaughter and daughter-in-law that endowed those three women with that “oh so special” feminine touch, adding spice and vigor to the family household. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and mostly her children, grandchildren and Fluffy her dog. She loved the outdoors and always had the most beautiful flower garden.

She was simple, honest and God-Loving...and let’s not forget GIVING!  She spent most of her time assisting others (both as a shoulder to lean on…and always offering much-need financial support to those in need) and giving and spreading “Love”.  She never hesitated to share her wonderful, glowing and trademarked smile.  Anastasia will truly be missed!

She is survived by her brother, T.G. Vic Harisis and her three sons, Peter Deralas (Fatana) of Chino Hills, CA, Dean Deralas of Long Beach, CA, and Chris Deralas of Chino Hills, CA: and two grandchildren, Brandon and Zoe Deralas and Family here and abroad (Greece) + Fluffy Her dog.

May Her Memory Be Everlasting.
