Anaffa Acuña

Our beloved mother and grandmother died on October 9, 2012 at Providence Holy Cross Hospital, Mission Hills at the age of 87. Anaffa was born on May 2, 1925 in Samborondon, Ecuador, one of 5 children to Jacinto and Flora de la Ese. She was raised both in a very small rice farming town called Boca de Caña and Guayaquil, Ecuador. In the early 1940's, she met her husband, Felix E. Acuña (deceased), and had 4 children. They moved to the United States in 1966, where they lived in New York and Connecticut before settling their roots in California. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, having birds as pets and traveling to many countries. One of her favorite travel moments was when she and her husband visited Israel and got baptized in the Jordan river followed by renewing their vows. Since the age of 20 she belonged to the Sisterhood of Mary. Her biggest priority in life was her family. She did anything and everything to help, love and support them. Something that we all will miss and strive to do for each other in her memory. She had a wonderful smile and one awesome laugh. She will be missed by all.

Anaffa is survived by her sister, Graciela of Staten Island, NY; brother, Ruperto de la Ese of Boca de Caña, Ecuador; her loving children, Carmen Esther Fujinaga (Takayuki, deceased ), Reynaldo & Jahivé Acuña, Norma C. Acuña and Elsa Acuña all from Sylmar. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Wilson E. Fujinaga (Greg Willoughby), Lillie (Chima) Obioha, Daniel (Rebecca) Acuña, Monica (Michael) Marley, David Acuña and Javier Acuña and 4 great-grandchildren: Kevyn Acuña-Boquiren, Bella and Tristan Obioha and Ethan Marley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix E. Acuña (deceased). She also leaves numerous friends, a huge loving family and her beloved pets, Tomasina , Ricky M. and Ramses.

I Will See You Again

The sun shall rise,
and sure to set.
Her time has come,
have no regret.
Her life she lived,
we sure all know.
A better place,
she has to go.
Rejoice today
it's at an end.
And she will see us,
once again.
