Anacleto Mamaril Dulay

August 7, 1926 — April 19, 2012

Anacleto Mamaril Dulay, born on August 7, 1926, in Aringay, La Union, Philippines, the 5th of 6 children of Gregorio and Telsflora Dulay. During World War II and the occupation by Japanese Army, he with his family survived by hiding in the mountains above his village. He was studying Fishing Agriculture in the Philippines when an opportunity to serve in the U.S. military came about. After the Korean War, thousands of servicemen left the U.S. Military leaving it undermanned. The U.S. Government decided to recruit Filippino citizens to fulfill their need. With promises to travel the world and become a U.S. citizen, he joined the U.S. Navy in October 1954 and continued to re-enlist as a DK1 Bookeeper for the next 21 years and 11 months. He was able to travel to Hong Kong, Japan, New York and San Diego.
1963 he attended a Christmas party in Los Angeles where he met his future wife, Conchita. They married January 15, 1966 at Imaculate Conception Church and had a reception at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. While he was at sea, his first born son, Michael John Dulay, was born. Angelita Marie Dulay was born also in Los Angeles. In May 1970 he moved his pregnant wife and two children to Guam Island, where his 3rd child, Anthony Trusty Flores Dulay, was born the day after Conchita's birthday. In February 1972, they moved back to the United States, to Everret, Washington. They lived there until 1974. He final assignment was to the destroyer class USS Goldsboro, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He retired from the Navy, October 1976.
They relocated back to California, finally residing in West Covina for the past 32 years till the time of his passing. He fought against multiple complications from his stroke but eventually succumbed to pneumonia and congestive heart failure. We are comforted to know that he is now at peace and with his wife in Heaven. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina, California.
He is survived by his three children and four grandchildren: Michael John Dulay, Marilyn, Michael John, II (5); Angelita Marie Flores (Dulay) Iftikhar, Omar;
Anthony Trusty Flores Dulay, Jacob (19), Jueliana (17), Jacqueline(16).
