Amelia Steed

Amelia Harris McLaurin Steed was born on December 26, 1935, in Mississippi and passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in Torrance, California, at the age of 90. At just 16 years old, she journeyed to California, where she built a life rooted in faith, strength, and love. She earned her Associate of Arts degree from San Bernardino Community College and faithfully served at Holy Trinity Full Gospel Church for over 60 years, beginning at the age of 25. She also dedicated many years of her life working as a librarian.

Amelia was a caring, faithful, and softhearted woman whose beautiful smile could light up any room. She loved to cook, especially her greens, and found joy in bringing people together through her warmth and generosity. A woman of deep faith and kindness, she lived her life as a shining example of love, grace, and resilience.

Her legacy lives on through her beloved children: Melvin McLaurin, Linda Strider, Janet McLaurin (preceded in death), Lavonta McCrary, Alfonso Bobby Rhone, Kristen Fisher, Angela McLaurin, and Loy Steed Jr. (preceded in death).
