On November 13th, 2022, Amado Macadamia Callego, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord. He was seventy-seven. He leaves behind his loving wife Evangeline Castro Callego, his older sister, Marina Macadamia Callego, his three sons Donny Allen, Alexander, and Arnold Callego, as well as their respective families.
He was born to Leonora and Bernardo Callego in Tarlac, Philippines on April 20, 1945. By his 20's he graduated with a BA in Mechanical Engineering from National University, Manila. In July of 1974 he made the decision to come to the United States after two years of writing and courting his penpal, Evangeline. The two would eventually wed on January 11, 1975.
Amado would go on to have a lengthy career as a maintenance engineer mostly in the hospitality industry. He worked for multiple employers including The City of Palm Springs, The Spa Hotel, Eisenhower Hospital, Hyatt, eventually retiring from Barona Casino at the age of 68. He prided himself in providing the best quality work, always choosing to never take shortcuts.
Outside of his work life he enjoyed fishing, marksmanship, and singing karaoke. He was also a Deacon and a member of the choir at his local church, Faith Bible Fellowship, where he was a much loved parishioner. He was known to have a passion for acquiring knowledge on many topics he enjoyed and passing it on to others. Most of all he will be remembered by many for his own unique brand of humor, gentle kindness, and welcoming smile.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 2p.m. It will take place at Faith Bible fellowship in Santee, CA. There wont be a viewing at this service but all family and friends are welcome to join.
