Alvin S. Lapper

November 22, 1923 — May 20, 2014

Alvin S. Lapper, 90, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 20, 2014. Al was a native of Brooklyn, NY and shared a wonderful marriage for over 56 years, with his (deceased) wife, Lois. Together they lived over 36 years in Rancho Mirage. Al, with a Masters in Chemistry from Ohio University, worked on the Manhattan Project for the US Army in World War II. After the war, he left the Army and successfully supported his family as a salesman for several distinguished women's fashion brands. He did this for over 40 years and raised his family in New Rochelle, NY before retiring to the Desert. Al was a marvelous husband, father, and dependently good friend. He was gregarious, humorous, generous and witty. He was a strong family man and had a daughter (deceased) Suzanne, and is survived by a son, Steven, and three grandchildren, Andrew, Sydney and Whitney. To all he was a terrific dad, pop, and role model. He will most certainly be missed. A simple service and interment will be held at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, Calif. at 1:30 p.m. this Friday, May 23, 2014. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, CA.
