Allen D. Johannsen, 79, born on November 7, 1934, in Austin, Minnesota, passed away August 30, 2014 in his Walnut home as a result of complications from bladder cancer.

Allen was son to Clifford and Erma Johannsen. He had two brothers, elder brother Robert and he is survived by younger brother Gerald who currently lives in Texas. Allen is father to Drew Johannsen (50) and Debra Gibson (45). In 1963 he married Lillian Johannsen at St. Stephen's Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Alhambra. He is survived by his wife Bertha Millard Johannsen whom he married at his residence in Walnut.

After graduating high school in Austin Minnesota, Allen moved to Los Angeles, California. Allen was drafted into the service in the late 1950's. He served our country in Europe as a PFC for the 34th Infantry as an award winning marksman on the Dragon's rifle team. Upon his discharge Allen began working for Sonoco Paper Products Company where he continued to work for over 40 years. He resided in Walnut, California from 1976 until the time of his passing.

Hunting and fishing were two of Allen's favorite activities. One of his favorite memories was traveling with his younger brother Gerry for a week long fishing trip on a remote lake in Canada. Allen enjoyed watching cowboy movies and often stated, "that a movie can't be bad if it has horses in it." He was especially fond of John Wayne movies and the televisions show Gunsmoke. He loved classic cars and owned a variety of "hot rods" when he was younger. He also raced Hydroplane boats for his father's racing team. Allen was a big sports fan. In high school he played on the basketball team and competed on the swimming team. He had season tickets to Los Angeles Rams games from 1971 until the team left for St. Louis. He was also a huge Laker fan and watched all of their games.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina, California. Services will be held on Tuesday September 9th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m..
