Alice Tatsuko Yamashiro

Yamashiro, Alice Tatsuko passed away peacefully at Nikkei Gardens Senior Living September 25, 2023 at the age of 92. Born as Tatsuko Alice Matsuno, she was the youngest of four sisters. Her family lived in Glendale and at the age of 11 they were incarcerated at Manzanar internment camp during WWII. After the war, her family moved to Chicago where she completed her high
school education. The family then returned to Los Angeles in early 1950s. She met and married Tetsua Kojima and they had son named Russell. Tets and Alice enjoyed dancing the jitter bug and socializing with friends. In addition, Alice relished being a gourmet cook and baker. In 1972 Alice remarried. Together with husband, Fred Yamashiro they blended their families of 6 children in Granada Hills. She continued to be an avid early morning walker along with her interests in collectibles. Alice is predeceased by first husband, Tets, son, Russell and husband, Fred. She is survived by grandson, Kevin Kojima (Julie), nieces, nephews and Yamashiro children and grandchildren. Generous, resilient and strong,
Alice will live on in our hearts.
