Atkinson, NH: Alice R (Tymrakiewicz) Szelest, 99, a resident of Atkinson since 2000, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at her home and following a period of declining health.

Born in Lawrence, MA, daughter of the late Stephan and Marcela (Graham) Tymrakiewicz, she attended schools in North Andover, MA and Windham, NH, and was a former parishioner of Holy Trinity Parish of Lawrence.

Employed for twenty six years at Western Electric Co. before her retirement, Mrs. Szelest was also formerly employed in the local textile mills. She was a longtime resident of Methuen, Ma before moving to Belmont, NH several years ago.

A member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Mrs. Szelest enjoyed knitting and crocheting, cooking Polish foods and dining out at Marty's steakhouse in North Hampton, which was formerly owned by her daughter, Phyllis. She was also a devoted Grandmother and Great-grandmother and enjoyed all the times that she shared with her family.

The wife of John S. Szelest, who died in 1990, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Julia Szelest, of Atkinson, with whom she made her home, as they became her primary care givers during the last part of her life, also two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Gino Funari of North Hampton, NH and Dorothy and John Georges of Taylorsville, NC, six grandchildren, Debra Bettcher, Patricia Grillo, Pamela Davis, Christine Schiavone, Karen Almy and Mark Szelest, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers John and Albert Tymrakiewicz, and sisters, Mary Bobeck, Helen Jablonski, Stella Mandry and Frances Tymrakiewicz.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA. Memorial donations may be made to Sarah Care, Route 111, Hampstead, NH, or to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence, MA.
