Alice E. Buckley

Groveland, MA:  Alice E. (Blaisdell) Buckley, 82, a native and lifelong resident of Groveland, died Friday evening, October 19, 2012, at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Esther (Sweetser) Blaisdell, she was educated in the Groveland School System and graduated Groveland High School.

An avid and accomplished tennis player, Mrs. Buckley worked for many years as the Manager of the Pro'shop at Cedardale Health and Athletic Club, Ward Hill and was a longtime member of Cedardale-Groveland. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

The wife of the late James E. Buckley, Jr., who died in 1977, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James E., III and Monica Buckley of Haverhill, daughter and son-in-law Kathleen A. and Michael Poirier of North Stonington, CT, daughter, Laurie J. Powell of Methuen, son-in-law, Richard Powell of South Lawrence, a brother Frederick Blaisdell of Atkinson, NH, sisters, Barbara Wilbur and Esther Roche, both of Groveland, seven grandchildren, James E. Buckley, IV, Andrew A. Buckley, Brian M. Poirier, Jonathan M. Poirier, Julianne Poirier, Sean J. Powell and Megan E. Powell, also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Blaisdell, John Blaisdell and William Blaisdell, and sisters Anna Hatch and Mary LaBranche.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow Village, NH. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
