Alfredo Velasco

BURBANK, CA — Alfredo Velasco, 85 years of age, passed peacefully in his sleep on April 1st at 9:10 pm, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Nayarit, Mexico, Alfredo was one of twenty-one children—twenty boys and one girl. A spirited youth, he was a boxer, adventurer, and lifelong soccer fan of Chivas de Guadalajara. He played and managed soccer into his 40s, coaching his sons and even teaching them how to kick a football. All four of his children earned athletic scholarships, a point of great pride.

In 1966, he married the love of his life, Olivia. Together, they built a beautiful partnership and are known as the glue of the extended families. Alfredo built his career as a technical welder with an aerospace company in Burbank, where they settled in 1971 and created a lasting home. A devoted husband, a proud father, and a tireless provider—Alfredo was playful, mischievous, and always ready with a joke. 

He is survived by his beloved wife Olivia and their children: Alfredo, Salvador, Abelardo, and Jeannette. A celebration of life will be held on April 26th at 11:30am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Burbank, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.
