Alfredo Melendez

Alfredo Melendez, 56, of Lynwood, CA passed away on December 15, 2022.


Alfredo was born on January 31, 1966 to Cecilia Penaranda and Edwin Melendez in San Jose, Costa Rica. He was the youngest of ten siblings. Alfredo moved to Lynwood at the young age of seventeen. After graduating from Lynwood High School in 1984, he went on to study Computer Science at Cal State Fullerton and Architecture and Spanish at Cal State Dominguez Hills.


After graduation, he got his first job as a library assistant for the Los Angeles County Library and as a tax collector. It was at this time that he met and fell in love with Maria Del Carmen. They were married in 1989 and were with each other through all of life's ups and downs.


Alfredo and Carmen would go on to have three children, Esteban, Estefania, and Romina, and later two grandchildren, Emilio and Emilyna. Alfredo exemplified for his children what hard work and perseverance can build when intertwined with love and humility.


When Alfredo wasn't working in the library or TSA, he could be found watching movies with his family or repairing everything from plumbing to cars. Alfredo dedicated much of his time lending a hand to anyone in need.


To honor Alfredo's legacy, services will be held at Forest Lawn - Long Beach, CA on Friday, December 23, 2022.
