Atkinson, NH: Alfred J. Medeiros, Jr., 74, of Atkinson died on October 7, 2013 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.

Born in Boston, MA, son of the late Alfred J. and Beatrice (Furtado) Medeiros, he was raised and educated in Somerville, MA and graduated from Somerville High School with the Class of 1957. He went on to attend Northeastern University in Boston. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked at the Metropolitan Credit Union for 35 years and retired as Executive Vice-President.

A former resident of Woburn, MA for over twenty years and Londonderry for ten years before moving to Atkinson in 2001, Mr. Medeiros was a former member of St. Mark's Parish in Londonderry. He was also a member of the Chelsea Yacht Club and the Kiwanis Club of Everett. He enjoyed boating and model ship building. He was also an artist in watercolor and sketching.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen F. (Sheehan) Medeiros, two sons, David A. Medeiros and his wife Connie of Weare, and Steven A. Medeiros of Newburyport, MA, a daughter, Deborah A. Minassian and her husband Stephen of North Hampton, four grandchildren, David, Charlie, Hailey, and Emily, a brother, Robert Medeiros of Chelsea, MA, a sister, Linda Medeiros of Yarmouthport, MA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Mr. Medeiros's request there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 12 noon at St. Anne's Church, Hampstead. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701 or the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75231. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH.
