Alfred Douyere

Alfred Douyere aka Freddy Douyere, 89, born on July 17, 1937, in Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu, lived an amazing long life until faced with health challenges that begun on May of 2026.  On August 5, 2026, Alfred passed away surrounded by family at the UCI Health in Orange. He was a resident of Garden Grove.

Alfred's life was defined by adventures, resourcefulness, and strong devotion to his family. He was kind, compassionate, humble, humorous, hardworking and a man with many skills. His childhood was spent in Catholic school then launch is living as a sailor and joined the Navy and served his terms then settled with spouse Tangikina Douyere and had 2 children Brigitte Douyere and Richard Douyere. Alfred owned several type of businesses to provide for his family.  He had a butchery, then own his own gas station which also included a full detailing service for travelers. He also practiced trait as an electrician, a mechanic, a taxi driver scattered in years. After having residency across several islands in the South Pacific such Espiritu Santo, Aore, Tonga and New Caledonia he decided to settle life here in the US in 1985 to pursuit a better future away from all the chaos happening back home. He was tirelessly building with a strong minded set to built a brighter future sacrificing everything he had.  He started as a landscaper contractor owing his own service company with 2 employees for over a decade then became a dedicated security guard for over 15+ years that he was passionate about until he retired in 2019 at the age of 82.  Alfred was a determined hard working man and worked his entire life until he decided to finally collect his well-earned retirement and enjoy life to his fullest surrounded by his love ones. While family and he spent remaining lives in the United States for over 41 years, his children grew to adulthood building careers and family of their own. He was an extraordinary grandfather to 5 grandsons Samuel Douyere, Samson Levale, Faalafi aka Jr Levale, Jarrett Leuta-Douyere and Jherremya Leuta-Douyere and extraordinary great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren (our angel from up above Leland Kalati Levale then came Liahnna Kalati-Levale, Legion Kalati-Levale, Olivia Leuta-Douyere, Kekoa Levale, Keilani Levale, Avery Leuta-Douyere, Lalelei Kalati-Levale, Legend Douyere, Keanna Levale and lastly Lotus Kalati-Levale).and an extraordinary Father-in-law to his son's wife Lita Douyere.  Alfred was the last surviving member out of his siblings and outlived his 6 brothers and 2 sisters but left behind nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins. He also left behind his son's spouse daughter in law Lita Leuta-Douyere.  His grandsons wife / fiance / partners Emma Kalati-Levale, Miriam Levale, Alyssa E Acuna, Sarona Leuta-Douyere and Alyssa D. Acuna.

Above all his lifetime accomplishments, Alfred's greatest and prime joy was family. He was the absolute cornerstone building a strong foundation for them. He was an extraordinary father, a devoted grandfather, a great-grandfather and amazing an deeply loving husband to his wife of 57 years and a great friend. He was very charismatic, deeply compassionate, full of joy, laughter and warmth. He loved listening to music jazz, blues, classic, tahitian particularly his favorite artist Gabilou. He also enjoyed playing instrument: the accordion but harmonica was the instrument he most was enthusiastic playing. He enjoyed family gathering whether indoor or outdoor, cooking, invigorating and one of his happy place was going to or being near the ocean and be encompassed by sailboats and yachts.  It was his glimpse reminiscing being back home as how he spent his childhood and half of his life. During his trips to ocean and the marinas, he would spent countless peaceful hours smelling the ocean and admiring the boats and embracing the scenery, inhaling the fresh ocean breeze. Alfred never had the opportunity to go back to his homeland because of his terror facing f long flights but family managed to bring home facade to him. His memories were priceless treasures that captured the delight joy and bliss of his smile every time he experience those moments.

Alfred's health was impeccable until was faced with life health challenges that begun in May 2026. Alfred's family were blessed to have celebrated Father's day in June 2026 and his 89th birthday in July 2026 before he departed in August 2026.  Alfred left a long line of legacy with cherished and embedded remarkable memories.
