Alfonso Garcia Castillo

Alfonso G. Castillo, 87, of San Gabriel, California passed away on August 31, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Born on March 23, 1939 to the late Angel and Luz Castillo. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Maria Elva (nee Aguayo), his children Luz Castillo of Port Hueneme, CA, Angel (Anna Lia) Castillo of Chino Hills, CA, and Mireya (Doug) Martin of Minooka, IL, his grandchildren Samantha, Mikayla (Reble Jr.), Christian, Nicholas and Angelia, and his great-grandchildren Reble III and Sidney. Also his brother-in-law Francisco (Francisca) Aguayo and a niece, nephews and numerous cousins.

Alfonso worked for decades with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and as a U.S. Customs Inspector. In addition to his work, he also had a lifelong love of cattle ranching, horses, reading, playing poker, listening to mariachi music and the occasional drink of bacanora and other fine spirits.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Forest Lawn at 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA, 91724. To be followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm at the Forest Lawn Church, and a reception to celebrate his life to immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you raise a toast in honor of a man who was well-loved and to a life that was well-lived.
