Alex Wu, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at Saint Joseph Hospital of Orange after a courageous battle with metastatic prostate cancer. He fought valiantly for four years against this aggressive illness, inspiring those around him with his unwavering spirit and strength.
Born on February 16, 1963, in Saigon, Vietnam, Alex's journey began in a land marked by hardship. With the fall of Saigon, he and his family sought refuge and a new beginning in the United States. Becoming an American citizen was a pivotal moment in his life, and it exemplified his determination and resilience. He dedicated himself to building a life filled with love, joy, and accomplishments.
When he graduated from Los Alamitos High School in 1981, Alex embarked on a commendable career with the City of Cypress Community Development Department Maintenance Division, where he devoted 37 years of exemplary service until his retirement in June 2018. His commitment to his work was a testament to his character, and he was well-regarded by his colleagues.
Beyond his professional life, Alex was known for his kind and friendly demeanor. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke around with friends and family, bringing laughter and light to every gathering. His passion for travel led him to explore the beauty of China and Vietnam, where he cherished every moment spent in nature and the great outdoors.
Alex was not only a proud father but a dedicated one, raising his son Alexander with love and attention, despite the challenges they faced with his son's disabilities. His proudest accomplishments included becoming a homeowner at just 25 years old and nurturing his son to grow into an intelligent young adult, instilling values that would last a lifetime.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Yvonne Tran Wu, and their son, Alexander Wu. Alex is also survived by a large and loving family: his brothers Tom Woo, Anthony Wu, Kyle Wu, Wallace Ho, Thomas Wu, David Wu, Albert Ho, and the late Sonny Wu; his sisters Kathy Wu Morales, Michelle Wu, Terry Wu, Joanna Choi, Amy Djou; as well as multiple sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. His loving family will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Alex's life. A visitation will take place on January 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn - Cypress - Hope Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM.
As we bid farewell to Alex Wu, we remember him not only for his achievements but for the love he shared, the laughter he created, and the legacy he left behind. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
