Alberto A. Cerniaz

Alberto A. Cerniaz, age 83, passed away, Thursday, at his home in Lakewood, California surrounded by his family on February 6, 2020. He was born on July 29, 1936 in Tacloban,Leyte, Philippines to Maria Adelantado and Sofronio Cerniaz, He attended and finished college at the University of the East in Manila. He married Joanne Gofolco on December 30, 1967 in Iloilo City, Philippines. They moved to Manila where he worked with Abbott Laboratories Philippines as National Sales Manager, Pharmaceutical Division. He migrated to the United States in June 1980 and landed a job as Material Analyst with McDonnell Douglas/The Boeing Company in Long Beach, CA, where he retired. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joanne, 4 sons Robert, Roderick, Kristian, daughter Pinkie, 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Kyla, Kaelyn and Dougie, daughter-in-law Yarina Cerniaz, son-in-law Douglas Bassett, his brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends and relatives for viewing from 10AM to 3PM on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress CA, followed by church services from 5PM to 6PM. Please join the family for dinner at East Buffet at 12100 E. Carson St., Hawaiian Gardens, CA 90716, Tel 562-425-8888, immediately after the church service.

The Cerniaz Family would like to extend their gratitude to all of their friends and relatives, far and near, who supported them in their time of sorrow, as well as to the staff at the Cherish Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.

Burial will be on February 26, 2020 at 1000 AM at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress CA which will be attended by immediate family.
