Albert Saltzmann

July 20, 1944 — April 13, 2024

Albert Saltzmann, 79, born on July 20, 1944, in Oil City, PA, United States, passed away April 13, 2024.  He was a strong, thoughtful, tireless, generous, stubborn, joyful man of God who filled the lives of his family and friends with cherished memories.   After graduating from high school, Al joined the U.S. Air Force and served with the K-9 Air Police in Germany.  He loved his wife Maureen with all his heart before--and after--she passed into the presence of Jesus in January, 2011, after nearly 38 years of marriage.  Al was employed with J.T. Thorpe for 37 years as a refractory worker and truck driver.    Al gave heaping support to his sons Jeff (Kristy) and Lance, who treasure his life and legacy.  He was affectionately known as “Bop” to his three grandsons, Jonathan, Daniel and Ryan. Though living most of his life in California, he remained a Pennsylvanian through and through.  He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fanatic.  He took regular, winding road trips back to Pennsylvania staying for months at a time in the beauty of the Allegheny Forest.   Al was a fervent follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Unashamed of the Gospel, he pointed us back to the love and grace of Jesus repeatedly.  Al was preceded in death by parents Albert and Eleanor and siblings, Jim, Cindy, and Margie.   Al is honored in the hearts of all his loved ones who remember him fondly, including his loving sisters Sue and Judy (Ron) and many nieces, nephews, and siblings-in-law.   Al lived his life with faithfulness until God took him home to heaven on April 13th, 2024 after a valiant battle against cancer.  A viewing will take place at Patriot’s Chapel, Forest Lawn Cypress on Thursday, May 2nd, 5-8pm.  A graveside service with military honors will take place at Forest Lawn Cypress on Friday, May 3rd, 12:30 p.m.  A celebration of Al’s life will take place at Bethel Grace Baptist Church, Bellflower, on Saturday, May 4th, 11 a.m.  Al is now living in the presence of his glorious, loving Savior.
